Italy
The Lega Basket Serie A is the top division of Italian basketball. 16 teams play a regular season followed by playoffs, with a long history and frequent representation in European competitions.
Italian Serie A has historically been one of the most attractive leagues in Europe for American players and has produced great players who later shone in the NBA. Teams such as Olimpia Milano and Virtus Bologna have been regular protagonists of the EuroLeague.
